First of all, I'd like to state the obvious - Malaysia has some real big problems regarding race relations amongst its people. The main problem is, my country has people from several racial backgrounds and the whole nation grew up thinking there's a "majority" race in this country and that they are entitled to get rights that the "minority" races do not deserve. In my opinion, I believe that there's a need for Malaysian people should be classified as just that - Malaysians. Not Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban, Kadazan etc. And I also believe that all of its people should be treated equally. For example, there should be no such thing as quotas for scholarships. Scholarships are meant to provide financial help for the deserving and needy students - meaning that those who excel in their examinations and who are not well-off irrespective of their racial background. I wished that certain Malaysians did not exist, like this person in the video.
I'll refrain myself from using expletives here with regards to the guy in the video. But seriously, he should be thankful he's living in Malaysia because if he was living anywhere else he's sure to be gunned down or chopped into pieces already. Sigh, I wished Malaysians are more like these 2 boys.
On another note, Beyonce decided to "postpone" her concert in Kuala Lumpur.
I'd like to think the so-called postponement is more like a cancellation, which sucks really. I'm not a really a fan of Beyonce but I think she's a talented artist. And I'm sure there are a lot of Beyonce fans in Malaysia. I bet those who bought her concert tickets must be fuming now. No, it's not her fault. It's mainly because of a small bunch of people who are holier-than-thou. You see, Malaysia has some really strict guidelines (being a Muslim nation) for those who want to perform here i.e. minimal skin exposure and not-so-raunchy dance moves. Unfortunately, Beyonce dresses sexily and shakes her hips like there's no tomorrow. I don't blame her. That's the natural way she performs and that's why people love her. But there's always a certain political party who just love to protest any concert that is going to be performed in Malaysia. I think it's pretty much stupid and illogical to deny an artist to perform in front of their own fans. And why the strict guidelines? Why stop artists from doing what they do? Indonesia let her perform in their country, even though it's the nation with the biggest Muslim population. Heck, Indonesia even has Playboy published there!
Anyway, on a less serious matter, I just finished watching Surrogates a few hours ago.
The movie was decent. Not great. 6.5/10 I'd say. But I surely wish that what happens in the movie does not happen in reality because I wouldn't want to see "plastic faces" all over the place. If you see lots of them in a dark street, it'll scare the shit out of you!
I want to watch Sherlock Holmes which is coming out at the end of the year. The trailer looks fairly interesting.
And maybe I should scare myself too with this Thai horror movie - Phobia 2. Trailer looks frightening enough.
Well, that's all for now. Time for me to get some sleep and dream about digital SLR cameras since I can't afford to have one right now. Not before I start working anyway. =P Goodnight!
p.s I'd appreciate some feedback/comments from those who read this blog.
